And so the new moon that hung like a secret in Virgo last Thursday – September 5 – offered us all, as it does every month, a chance at renewal. To shed our skin, to blow away with warmth the dust from unused corners, to sharpen the edges that define us.
Virgo is the sixth sign in the ever present Zodiac, and as an Earth sign moving into fall it offers a tangible and solid foundation upon which we can adapt to change a little more easily than usual. Virgo is the sign of healing and so befits the coming of the new month of September – here is our chance to become our authentic selves as the heightened senses of summer begin to fade.
A new season is upon us; the Virgo new moon reminds us, so take some time to plant the seeds for the new color palette that portends autumn. The green of summer and old self fades, giving way to the flaring reds and burnished golds of transformation of fall.
Whatever is happening in your life, I urge you to make something of the gift of new moons. If you do nothing for your existential self, do this. The next new moon presents itself in Libra on the 4th of October, so take the time this month to start your transformation.
It doesn’t matter if you believe in the power of the Zodiac’s seventh sign, or if you feel the Venetian “Libra” tendencies towards elegance and balance, Saturn’s pull towards structure and form.
Use the new moon as a place-marker to check in with yourself, funnel her energy to start a new chapter, dream a new sentiment, shed a piece of you that hangs heavy. Then watch as your next step draws you closer to your goal, whose full realization is said to come mostly likely at the full moon. Most importantly, delight in the knowing of what’s happening between your inner self and the outer skies. It’s a kickass connection, enjoy it!
